Transceiver features

Q.  What is the Cisco PID for the Cisco SFP+ 10GBASE-T?
A.  SFP-10G-T-X
Q.  What speeds are supported on the SFP+ 10GBASE-T?
A.  The following three data rates are supported by the module: 100M/1G/10Gbps. If there are limitations on the platform host, a subset of speeds might be supported.
Q.  What cables are supported? What is the distance/reach limitations?
A.  The table below shows the reach and data rate by cable type.

Q.  What is the maximum power consumption of the transceiver?
A.  The maximum power consumption is 2.5W at 30 meters (CAT6A or better).

Transceiver to device interoperability

Q.  What devices does the SFP-10G-T-X interoperate with on the other side of the link?
A.  The SFP-10G-T-X interoperates with any device that supports 10GBASE-T, 1000BASE-T, or 100BASE-TX standards (such as IEEE 802.3an, 802.3ab, 802.3u). The SFP-10G-T-X interoperates with other BASE-T transceivers with (RJ-45 ports) as well as embedded BASE-T ports on servers and switches that comply to the IEEE standards described above.

Transceiver to host compatibility

Q.  Which Cisco platforms will support the SFP-10G-T-X transceiver?
A.  At the release, the Nexus 9000 and NCS 5501 platforms will support the transceiver. Please check the Cisco compatibility matrix for the latest information on platform
Q.  Are there any restrictions during deployment?
A.  Yes, the maximum power consumption of this transceiver (2.5W per port) imposes certain restrictions during deployment. Cisco switches and routers will not be able to fully populate and deploy all ports with the SFP-10G-T-X. The table below summarizes the platforms that will support the SFP-10G-T-X as well as deployment limitations.
